If you start your day with a matcha or a sip of sencha, you’ll already know that Green Tea is oozing with benefits for your wellbeing.
Abundant in antioxidants and with a knack for kick-starting your metabolism, it’s the ultimate wake-up drink.
But could Green Tea skin care also awaken your complexion and help tackle the challenges of acne-prone skin? We explore the evidence.

Green Tea antioxidant benefits for skin
With a simple sip of Green Tea comes a wealth of wellbeing benefits. Thought to support heart health, brain health and digestion, Green Tea is the antioxidant powerhouse that’s well worth putting the kettle on for.
However, while the benefits of Green Tea as a drink might be well established, you may not be aware that Green Tea is also one of the best natural beauty ingredients for achieving a balanced and healthy complexion.

Rich in powerful antioxidants called catechins, which help protect the skin from oxidative damage, Green Tea knows just how to restore calm to spot-prone skin.
And you can forget about frown lines; Green Tea is also an excellent ingredient for giving your skin a natural collagen boost. More about that in the next section.
Green Tea benefits for spots
Thanks to its rich reserve of catechin antioxidants, Green Tea is our go-to blemish buster. Why?
Spots are caused by excess sebum, and when this undergoes oxidative damage, blackheads emerge. Green Tea‘s antioxidants have an amazing ability to reduce oxidative stress, thereby preventing blackheads and pimples from forming.
And the benefits of using Green Tea skin care on spot-prone skin don’t stop there! Oh-so gentle, Green Tea gets bonus points from oily and spot-pone skin for being anti-inflammatory, ideal for soothing red, raised spots.
This makes Green Tea one of the best natural ingredients for our Organic Young range, gentle, effective anti-blemish skin care crafted for young teen skin that may be prone to acne.

Green Tea collagen-boost benefits
Green Tea is also one of nature’s best ingredients for preserving the precious collagen and elastin supplies that decline with age.
That’s because its catechins also have an impressive, collagen-protecting ability that inhibits enzymatic damage.
They also help neutralise free radicals created as a result of pollution and UV exposure, which are known to contribute to premature ageing.
That’s one reason why you’ll find Green Tea in so many of our natural and organic sun creams!

Make your own Green Tea spritz
Spritz and soothe with our two-step guide to making your own Green Tea-infused skin care.
Step 1: Steep a cup of Green Tea in a litre of boiling water and leave to cool for 20 minutes
Step 2: Strain the tea into a spray bottle and refrigerate
And that’s it! Easy, huh?
Your spray should stay fresh for around a week. We love to use it as a refreshing facial mist or a cooling foot spray.
You can also use it to soothe tired eyes. Soak a cotton pad in the Green Tea solution, squeeze out the excess and then lay the pads over your lids for 10 minutes.
